Research: Characteristics of advertising - Denotation and Connotation

Denotation and Connotation
Denotation in media terms is what you can visually see and connotation is what the denotation represents. Here are a few examples:

Denotation: the denotation of this logo is that it is red, red is usually symbolised with raw due to the colour of blood and meat, we know meet will be involved with this company because of the apron that is shown in the logo, the colour red also symbolises the taste of the food and the different types of sources they will have in the company, red will usually be spicy but also a calm taste sweet scours. It’s not the first time a company has used the colour red in its logo, the colour red is commonly used in fast food all around.

The round shape has be used in order for the logo to fit nicely around all the different shape of containers the business uses, to make sure it sticks to the level of reputation it has gained its very important for the business to look at all these factors carefully, the animated pictures on the logo is of the founder of KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) Colonel Saunders, it allows the company to travel back to its root to reminded them how the company started. The font used to write KFC on the logo is quite bold and stands out of the background.
Another fast food takes away logo which has used red.
